Talking Head Talking Plants

This portrait by Penny Farrant didn't make it into the NSW Art Gallery's finalist exhibition (or to the 'Salon des Refuses' at the S.H. Ervin Gallery), but it was one of the 850 or so entrants in this year's Archibald Prize.

Of course I think it should have won. Not just because it would be another chance to spruke seasons, but because Penny has done expressing the colour and fun I think goes along with sprinter and the rest.

If you are interested in purchasing the picture from Penny...it requires a very grand setting. It's about 1.5 m X 1.5 m, in the year that a 'small' painting won the Archibald for the first time.

Of course if it doesn't find a home I'll have to hang it here (in my office), next to the very small portraits of the former Directors of the Botanic Gardens...

If ever there was an argument against messing with the seasons, I have just seen it :)
